BREAKING: Arsenal Finally Complete The Signing Of Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal have reached a full verbal agreement to sign Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, with all parties now aligned on the terms of the deal. After weeks of intense negotiations, Mikel Arteta’s top striker target is finally on his way to north London in what is set to be one of the marquee signings of the summer window.

According to multiple sources, including transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sporting have accepted Arsenal’s final bid of €63.5 million plus €10 million in achievable add-ons, bringing the total package close to €73.5 million. The deal was also made possible after the Swedish striker’s agent agreed to reduce his commission demands—an important breakthrough that helped unlock the final stages of the agreement.

Five-Year Deal for a Relentless Goalscorer

Gyökeres is expected to sign a five-year contract with Arsenal, keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until 2030. The 26-year-old has been pushing for the move for weeks and, as revealed, he only wanted Arsenal. Despite reported interest from other top European clubs, including Chelsea and AC Milan, Gyökeres made it clear to all parties that his priority was joining Mikel Arteta’s project in north London.

The Swedish international enjoyed a sensational 2023/24 season at Sporting, scoring 43 goals in all competitions and adding double digits in assists. His aggressive pressing, powerful frame, and eye for goal made him one of the most lethal strikers in Europe, and Arsenal are confident he has the attributes to thrive in the Premier League.

Arteta Gets His Man

Mikel Arteta has been vocal about the need to improve depth and quality in the squad, and Gyökeres fits that vision perfectly. After deploying Kai Havertz as a false nine and rotating Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus last season, Arteta now has a natural No. 9 with a consistent goal-scoring record.

The Spanish manager was personally involved in pushing for the deal to be completed, and his tactical plan for Gyökeres played a key role in convincing the player to wait patiently while negotiations dragged on.

Arsenal’s Summer Taking Shape

Gyökeres becomes Arsenal’s fourth major signing of the summer, joining a squad that has already been strengthened by the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, and Riccardo Calafiori. Sporting director Edu and new technical lead Andrea Berta were instrumental in getting this deal across the line, maintaining close contact with Sporting and the player’s camp.

Arsenal now turn their focus to finalising the formal paperwork, medical, and official unveiling, which are expected to take place in the coming days. The striker could join the squad midway through the pre-season tour in Asia if logistics allow.

A Statement of Intent

This is a statement signing from Arsenal—one that signals their intent to challenge for the Premier League title and go deeper in the UEFA Champions League. Viktor Gyökeres isn’t just arriving as a goal-scorer; he’s arriving as the new focal point of Arsenal’s next evolution under Mikel Arteta.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
