Brentford release statement on their goalkeeper David Raya likely joining Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked with a move for David Raya and Brentford have made a statement on the future of their goalkeeper.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has addressed the future of goalkeeper David Raya, following reports that Arsenal is interested in signing him. The Athletic confirmed today that the Gunners are considering making a bid for the talented shot-stopper.

Speaking about the situation, Frank stated as per media, “We are willing to sell, David would like to go. It’s fine for us. [If] a club wants to buy, they just need to find out the price. I guess it should be simple, but apparently it’s very difficult!”

These comments from Frank suggest that Brentford is open to selling Raya if the right offer comes along. The manager also hinted at potential complications in negotiations, indicating that reaching an agreement may not be straightforward.

Arsenal has been active in this summer transfer window, securing several signings already. They recently completed the £65 million acquisition of 24-year-old midfielder Kai Havertz from Chelsea and brought in 22-year-old defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax for a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Additionally, Arsenal made headlines with their record-breaking £105 million signing of 24-year-old midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham.

With these high-profile signings already secured, it seems Arsenal is keen on bolstering their squad further by targeting Brentford’s David Raya. The Gunners are likely looking for a reliable goalkeeper to provide competition and cover for their current options between the sticks.

Raya has established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers since joining Brentford from Blackburn Rovers in 2019. Should Arsenal make a move for Raya, it remains to be seen how negotiations will progress given Thomas Frank’s comments about finding the right price. However, with Brentford seemingly open to selling and Raya expressing his desire to leave, a potential transfer could be on the cards.

For Raya, a move to Arsenal would represent an opportunity to test himself at a higher level and compete for silverware. The Gunners, on the other hand, would gain a talented goalkeeper who has proven himself i and could provide valuable depth to their squad.

As the transfer window continues, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal follows up their reported interest in David Raya with a concrete bid. The goalkeeper’s future at Brentford hangs in the balance, and fans of both clubs will be eagerly awaiting further developments.
