Arsenal Desperate to Keep Defender as Exit Looms – Big-Money Contract Offer Made!

Arsenal are making a late attempt to retain Jakub Kiwior, with the club prepared to offer the Polish defender a new and improved contract in a bid to change his mind about leaving this summer, according to a report from TBR Football.

Kiwior, 25, has been growing increasingly unsettled at the Emirates, having struggled for consistent game time since his arrival from Spezia in January 2023. Although the versatile left-footed defender has shown flashes of his potential, he remains behind Gabriel Magalhães in the pecking order for the left-sided centre-back role — a reality that has left him seeking assurances about his future.

The report suggests that while Kiwior is grateful for the development he has undergone under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, he is also realistic about his position within the squad. He wants regular first-team football — something he believes he may need to move elsewhere to find. However, Arsenal have not given up hope of persuading him to stay.

Sources close to the player’s camp say Arsenal have already initiated talks and indicated their willingness to hand him a contract renewal with significantly improved terms. The club values Kiwior’s versatility — he has filled in admirably at left-back when needed and has shown composure and technical quality in possession. Arteta is believed to admire Kiwior’s attitude and believes he still has a big future at the club.

Kiwior’s recent run in the starting lineup — necessitated by injuries in the squad — was seen as a key opportunity for him to stake his claim. While his performances were solid, they also reinforced the player’s own belief that he is ready to be a regular starter at a high level. That conviction, ironically, may be pushing him further toward the exit, unless Arsenal can present a compelling vision of his role next season.

From the club’s perspective, retaining Kiwior makes strategic sense. With potential exits looming for Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko, and ongoing uncertainty over defensive reinforcements, keeping a left-sided defender of Kiwior’s quality and age is seen as valuable squad insurance — particularly in a season where Arsenal will again compete across multiple fronts.

But much will depend on whether the club can guarantee more than just an improved salary. Kiwior wants clarity about his chances of starting regularly, and unless those assurances arrive, a summer departure still looks likely. Several Serie A clubs and Bundesliga sides are already believed to be monitoring his situation closely.

As it stands, Arsenal are making their move to change the narrative. A new deal is on the table. But convincing Jakub Kiwior to stay may take more than money — it may take a genuine roadmap to the starting XI.
