Arteta speaks out on player that had immense influence on two clubs
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, describing him as the only player he has witnessed who could single-handedly transform two clubs.
Arteta, reflecting on his own footballing journey, highlighted Ronaldinho’s immense impact on Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona. “He’s (Ronaldinho) the only player that I have seen in history that could transform, by himself, two clubs,” he said. “He did it in Paris, he transformed them, he went to Barcelona in one of their worst moments and transformed them.”
The Arsenal boss emphasized Ronaldinho’s unique ability to elevate the level of his teams, not just through his technical brilliance but also his infectious charisma. “He was a huge talent. He had an aura, an energy, a smile on his face. It was impossible to be next to him and be in a bad mood,” Arteta added.
Ronaldinho’s arrival at PSG in 2001 marked a turning point for the club, injecting a much-needed dose of flair and creativity. His transfer to Barcelona in 2003, amidst a period of uncertainty and underachievement, ushered in a golden era for the Catalan giants, marked by a trophy-laden spell and the resurgence of the club’s famed “tiki-taka” style.
Arteta’s admiration for Ronaldinho underscores the lasting impact the Brazilian had on the world of football. His unique blend of skill, personality, and leadership made him a true game-changer, leaving an unforgettable legacy that continues to inspire generations of players and fans.
