Viktor Gyokeres’ Arsenal Medical And Contract Signing Date Revealed

Arsenal are edging closer to completing one of the marquee signings of their summer transfer window, with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres on the brink of joining the Gunners. The Sweden international’s representative, Hasan Cetinkaya, has now travelled to London to finalise the details of the transfer, signalling that the long-awaited move is nearly across the line.

According to reports, Gyökeres is expected to undergo his medical in the next 48 hours before putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium. This development follows weeks of intense negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon, with both clubs eventually settling on a fee in the region of €63.5 million plus an additional €10 million in performance-related bonuses.

Gyökeres has been Arsenal’s top striker target throughout the summer, with Mikel Arteta prioritising the addition of a powerful, prolific centre-forward to spearhead his attack. The 26-year-old Swede enjoyed a sensational season with Sporting, scoring 43 goals in all competitions and firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most in-form attackers.

The player himself has made no secret of his desire to make the move to North London. It is understood that Gyökeres has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, and he has been pushing behind the scenes to ensure the transfer happens. In a show of commitment, his agent Hasan Cetinkaya is believed to have reduced his commission demands to help facilitate the deal.

Cetinkaya’s arrival in London is a clear sign that only the final administrative steps remain before the move becomes official. Once the medical is complete and documents are signed, Arsenal are expected to announce Gyökeres as their latest summer signing—joining fellow new arrivals Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Nørgaard, and Martin Zubimendi in what is shaping up to be a transformative transfer window for the club.

For Arteta, Gyökeres offers a unique profile—combining physical presence, intelligent movement, and elite finishing. He will provide much-needed competition and support for Gabriel Jesus, and is expected to be a regular feature in Arsenal’s front line as they look to mount another serious Premier League title challenge and return to the Champions League.

Sporting have maintained a firm stance throughout negotiations, initially holding out for the full €80 million release clause. However, Arsenal’s persistence and Gyökeres’ own determination to join eventually wore down the resistance, with a structured offer ultimately proving sufficient to convince the Portuguese giants to sell.

If all goes to plan, Arsenal could unveil Gyökeres within days—giving him time to settle and possibly link up with the squad ahead of their pre-season campaign in Asia. Arsenal fans will be thrilled by the imminent arrival of a striker whose goal-scoring exploits in Portugal have drawn comparisons to some of Europe’s elite forwards.

The Gunners’ long search for a reliable goal machine appears to be reaching its conclusion.
