Arsenal Remain Focused on Eze Signing Even With Imminent Gyokeres Arrival

Arsenal remain fully focused on the potential signing of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who reports that the club is continuing to work behind the scenes to bring the dynamic midfielder to north London this summer despite the imminent arrival of Viktor Gyokeres.

Eze, 27, has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League over the past two seasons, and his consistent form has not gone unnoticed by Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal recruitment team. With the Gunners looking to add more attacking flair and unpredictability to their midfield, Eze has emerged as a priority target.

Arteta’s Vision for Eze

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a big admirer of Eze’s ability to glide past defenders, operate between the lines, and create chances under pressure. The England international is viewed as a player who could fit seamlessly into Arsenal’s possession-heavy style while also offering the individual brilliance needed to unlock stubborn defences.

Sources close to the club suggest that Eze is being targeted as a versatile addition who can operate either as a left-sided central midfielder in a three, or further forward in more attacking zones. Arteta wants to expand Arsenal’s creative options beyond just Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka, and sees Eze as someone who can help shoulder that creative load.

Negotiation Complications

While Arsenal’s focus on Eze remains strong, a deal is far from simple. Crystal Palace reportedly value the player at around £60–70 million, and are under no pressure to sell. Eze signed a new contract in November 2023, which runs until 2027, giving Palace a strong negotiating position.

However, there is belief inside Arsenal that Eze could be open to the move, especially with Champions League football on offer and the opportunity to work under a progressive manager like Arteta. The club is currently weighing how to approach the deal – whether to pay close to the full asking price or attempt a package involving instalments and potential bonuses.

Eze’s Rise

Eberechi Eze has had a fascinating journey, rising from the lower leagues to Premier League stardom through sheer determination and flair. After impressing at QPR, he made the switch to Crystal Palace in 2020 and has steadily grown into one of the most exciting players in the league. Last season, he scored 11 goals and provided four assists in the league, playing both as a No. 10 and a left-sided playmaker.

His form also earned him a regular spot in the England squad, with his stock continuing to rise heading into the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal’s Summer Strategy

The pursuit of Eze aligns with Arsenal’s broader transfer strategy: targeting technically gifted, Premier League-proven players with the mentality to thrive under pressure. With Kai Havertz and Declan Rice proving to be strong additions some time back. , Arteta and sporting director Berta are keen to build on that momentum.

As negotiations continue, Arsenal fans will be hoping the club can make a decisive move in the coming weeks. If successful, Eze could become another jewel in Arteta’s ambitious project.
