Arsenal Confirm Starting XI to Face PSG in Champions League Semi-Final Showdown

Arsenal have officially named their starting eleven to take on Paris Saint-Germain in tonight’s blockbuster UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg at the Parc des Princes — and it’s a bold, attack-minded line-up from Mikel Arteta as the Gunners look to overturn a 1-0 deficit and book their place in the final.

Arsenal Starting XI:
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Martinelli, Merino.

Substitutes:
Neto, Setford, White, Calafiori, Tierney, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Henry-Francis, Nwaneri, Butler-Oyedeji, Trossard, Sterling.

There are two big headlines here: Mikel Arteta has trusted 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back in a game of the highest magnitude, and he’s opted for a midfield trio of Partey, Rice, and Ødegaard — combining defensive grit, physical dominance, and creative class.

Youth Meets Experience

Despite injuries to several senior defenders, Arteta has shown remarkable faith in youth, handing Lewis-Skelly a start in the most important game of Arsenal’s season so far. The Hale End graduate has been hugely impressive when called upon and now faces the ultimate test against a star-studded PSG attack.

At right-back, Jurrien Timber continues his return to full fitness with a starting role. The Dutchman has added composure and versatility to Arsenal’s backline and will be vital in helping contain PSG’s dangerous wide players. Jakub Kiwior keeps his place alongside the ever-reliable William Saliba at centre-back, as Gabriel Magalhães remains absent.

Engine Room Ready for Battle

In midfield, Arsenal line up with Thomas Partey and Declan Rice shielding the defence — both players bring energy and control, but Rice, in particular, has emerged as Arsenal’s talisman in the Champions League knockout stages. The England international is the club’s top scorer in the knockouts and will be looking to dictate the tempo in Paris.

Captain Martin Ødegaard completes the midfield trio and will be key to unlocking the PSG defence. Despite recent criticism, he has the full backing of his teammates and manager and will be out to make a statement on the grandest stage.

Firepower in Attack

Arsenal’s front three is full of pace and trickery. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli take up the wide positions and will look to stretch the PSG defence and create space for the midfield runners. Mikel Merino, playing in a more advanced role, offers a unique blend of intelligence, technical quality, and physicality, and could be Arsenal’s wildcard threat.

Strong Bench Options

Arteta also has game-changing options on the bench. Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling can provide attacking spark if needed, while Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko offer experience and control in the full-back areas. The likes of Nwaneri and Butler-Oyedeji bring youthful enthusiasm and could be late-game wildcards.

With everything on the line and a spot in the Champions League final up for grabs, Arsenal’s team selection signals intent. The Gunners are ready to take the game to PSG — and write a historic chapter in the club’s European journey.
