Arsenal’s Injury Nightmare: Only Three Forwards Left as Title Hopes Hang in the Balance!

Arsenal’s attacking depth has been pushed to its limits after a series of devastating injuries to key players. With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz all sidelined, Mikel Arteta faces a major challenge in keeping the Gunners’ title charge on track. As things stand, Arsenal have only three fit forwards—Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

This injury crisis could not have come at a worse time, with the Premier League title race heating up and crucial Champions League knockout fixtures on the horizon. Let’s take a closer look at Arsenal’s remaining forward options and how Arteta might cope with the crisis.

Leandro Trossard – The Most Reliable Option

Trossard has proven to be an excellent squad player since joining from Brighton, regularly stepping up when needed. His versatility allows him to play across the front three, and with so many injuries, he is now Arsenal’s most experienced available attacker. His ability to score important goals and create chances makes him a key figure in the coming weeks.

The Belgian will likely feature as either a left winger or a central striker in Arteta’s system, depending on how Arsenal choose to line up. Given his technical ability and movement, he could become Arsenal’s main attacking threat until other players return.

Raheem Sterling – The Loan Signing Now More Important Than Ever

Sterling arrived at Arsenal on loan from Chelsea in the summer and was expected to play a rotational role. However, with the current injury crisis, his presence in the squad has become crucial. The 30-year-old brings experience, pace, and goal-scoring ability, which could be invaluable in keeping Arsenal’s attack functional.

Although his performances this season have been inconsistent, Arsenal need him to step up in a big way. With Martinelli and Saka out, Sterling is likely to play a key role on the wings, offering width and penetration in attack.

Ethan Nwaneri – A Chance for the Youngster to Shine?

At just 17 years old, Nwaneri is the least experienced of Arsenal’s remaining attacking options, but he may now get a golden opportunity to showcase his talent. The youngster has impressed at youth level and has already made appearances for the first team.

While it is unlikely that Arteta will rely on him as a starter, Nwaneri could be used as an impact substitute or in cup competitions. If he takes his chances well, this injury crisis could turn into a breakthrough moment for him.

Could Arteta Find Alternative Solutions?

With such limited attacking options, Arteta might be forced to experiment. Mikel Merino has already been mentioned as a potential emergency striker, while someone like Emile Smith Rowe (if he were still at the club) would have been a useful option in this scenario.

Arsenal’s ability to stay in the title race will now depend on how well they can cope without their star forwards. Trossard and Sterling will need to carry the burden, while Arteta may have to get creative with his tactics to ensure the team remains competitive in the coming weeks.
