Arteta’s Arsenal identifies two targets to replace Thomas Partey this summer

Arsenal could lose Thomas Partey in this summer transfer window and Mikel Arteta has identified two targets that could replace the Ghanaian international.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sell Thomas Partey if a suitable offer arrives, according to a report by ESPN. The Ghanaian midfielder was impressive for the Gunners in the recently concluded season, scoring three goals in the Premier League and helping them to a second-place finish. However, it seems that Mikel Arteta is ready to revamp his midfield and is willing to let go of Partey.

The report suggests that Arsenal are eyeing Moises Caicedo and Ilkay Gundogan as potential replacements for Partey. Caicedo, who is just 21 years old, is considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League after helping Brighton to a sixth-place finish on the table. The Ecuadorian has been linked with several top clubs in Europe, but Arsenal seem to be leading the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, Gundogan will be a free agent at the end of this month, and Manchester City are trying to extend his deal. However, Arsenal are also pushing to sign him as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season. The 32-year-old German international scored eight goals and provided four assists in the recently finished Premier League campaign.

Partey’s potential departure would come as a surprise to many Arsenal fans who saw him as one of their best players last season. The midfielder’s physicality and ability on both sides of the ball made him an integral part of Arteta’s team. However, it seems that the Gunners are looking for more creativity and attacking threat from their midfielders.

Caicedo’s arrival would certainly add some much-needed energy and dynamism to Arsenal’s midfield. The youngster has shown great promise in his time in England and could develop into a top-class player under Arteta’s guidance.

Gundogan, on the other hand, would bring experience and quality to Arsenal’s midfield. The German international has been one of Manchester City’s best players in recent seasons and could be a valuable addition to the Gunners’ squad.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will indeed sell Partey this summer and sign Caicedo and/or Gundogan. However, it is clear that Arteta is looking to make some significant changes to his midfield as he aims to take Arsenal back to the top of English football.
