Arsenal have already been pretty busy in the summer transfer window and a report has now revealed that they are now very close to completing their first signing.
Moises Caicedo, the 21-year-old midfielder from Ecuador, has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Arsenal. However, Chelsea is still looking to hijack the deal, according to a report by The Metro UK.
Caicedo is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and helped Brighton to a sixth position on the premier league table. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sent a staggering bid in excess of £70million for Caicedo in the January transfer window but a deal didn’t work out as Brighton refused to sell the Ecuador international – even after he went public with his desire to leave.
Despite being keen to keep him this summer, Brighton will let him go if the right offer comes in. This could lead to a bidding war between Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature.

Caicedo’s addition could be crucial for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season. With Granit Xhaka reportedly set to leave and doubts over Thomas Partey’s future, Caicedo could provide some much-needed depth and quality in midfield.
However, Chelsea’s interest in Caicedo shows that they are also looking to bolster their midfield options. It remains to be seen which club will win the race for Caicedo’s signature, but one thing is for sure – he will be a valuable addition to any team that manages to sign him.
