Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has opened up on what he believes has clicked for the Gunners this season, as they find themselves in a Premier League title race. The North London club finished fifth last season, but have made significant strides this campaign and currently sit top of the table with 73 points after 30 games.
Speaking to the BBC, Jesus said: “The club already had the idea where they wanted to go when they started to do their work inside [the club]. I’m not saying myself only, but everyone who stayed here first and then everyone’s come to help a lot.”
Jesus, who has scored eight goals and made five assists in the league this season, also drew on his experience at Brazilian club Palmeiras, who had gone 20 years without winning the league before he joined. He said: “Here is quite the same. That’s why I’ve come. I’m not saying we’ll win the league because nothing is decided yet, but we are there, fighting until the end.”
Arsenal’s success this season can be attributed to a number of factors. Firstly, their defence has been significantly improved under manager Mikel Arteta.
In addition to their solid defence, Arsenal have also been boosted by some impressive attacking performances from players such as Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Martinelli has scored 14 league goals this season while Saka has 12.

Another key factor in Arsenal’s success has been their ability to grind out results against tough opposition. They have picked up wins against Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool this season.
Despite their impressive form this season, Arsenal will face stiff competition from Manchester City in the race for the title. Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand and are just six points behind the Gunners.
However, with players like Gabriel Jesus firing on all cylinders and a solid defence to back them up, Arsenal will be confident of maintaining their position at the top of the table and securing their first Premier League title since 2004.
