Arsenal completed the signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72million in the 2019 summer transfer window and he has not been impressive in his now three year stay at the Emirates Stadium as he is nowadays benched by young players such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. A report has now revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has finally made a decision on the future of Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal signed Nicolas Pepe after his impressive season at Lille which had seen him score 23 goals and Unai Emery brought him in believing that he would lessen their reliance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who used to score most goals of the North Londoners at that time. Nicolas Pepe has however failed to impress in the Premier League as he has found himself failing to secure a starting spot in the starting elevens of Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta.
A report by Football365 has revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Nicolas Pepe is not in his plans for next season and that the North London club will now make a loss of up-to £40million on him. It has been very clear for a while even though Mikel Arteta has never outright said it but everyone has been discussing how Nicolas Pepe is never able to get game time over both Martinelli and Saka when he’s a far more experienced player.
It will be interesting to see how much Arsenal will indeed be able to master up in their sale of Nicolas Pepe but it will however most likely be a very low fee since his lack of game time this season has severely affected his price tag.
