Deal very close for Arsenal’s first summer signing, announcement expected next week

Arsenal could announce their first summer signing next week according to reports.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal for Anderlecht youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to HLN journalist Kristof Terreur.

A £13.5m bid was rejected a few days back, with the Belgian club wanting around £18m. However, reports indicate that Arsenal are very confident of wrapping the deal.

“Arsenal don’t have a lot of competition, so they’re quite sure they’ll get him. It’s one that, if it doesn’t happen on Monday, it will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or the Monday after.”  Terreur said while speaking to The Football Terrace.

Unverified sources claim that Lokonga’s move to Arsenal has been agreed and an official announcement could be made in the coming days.

The 21-year-old made 33 appearances in the Belgian pro League scoring three goals and assisting two times. Sambi Lokonga is seen as a dynamic midfielder with lots of potential and has been recommended by Thierry Henry.

He is expected to be a replacement for one of the outgoing midfielders these are; Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka.
