William Saliba completes loan transfer to Nice

Saliba, 19 joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne for £27m in 2019 before being loaned back to the French club.

Arsenal youngster William Saliba has joined French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice on a loan deal until the end of the season it has been confirmed by Arsenal’s official site.

He however struggled to play with injuries and personal issues being a hindrance and his Arsenal career has also stalled.

Saliba playing for his former club Saint-Etienne.

He was left out of the Premier and Europa League squads and has only played for the academy teams leaving him frustrated.

Nice will pay all of Saliba’s wages while he is on loan and the deal does not include a fee.

“William experienced a very challenging time last year, with his playing time limited by injury and the early ending of the Ligue 1 season due to the pandemic,” Arsenal technical director Edu said.

“We will be keeping in close contact with William during his time with Nice and look forward to seeing him make good progress until the end of the season.”

Saliba’s future remains at Arsenal having signed five-year long term contract in 2019.
