Lyon make a statement on Houssem Aouar who’s been tipped for a move to Arsenal

Arsenal has in recent weeks been linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and their president has now released a statement about the future of the French international.

Arsenal has a few days to sign a new midfielder as the summer transfer window will soon close and Lyon’s highly rated young star Houssem Aouar has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but an agreement between the clubs is yet to be reached. Lyon president has now recently commented on the future of Aouar in a press conference.

Arsenal has been pretty clear in showing that the gunners want to sign a new attacking midfielder because Mikel Arteta does not have any plans of integrating Mesut Ozil back into the squad even though some could say he was their best attacking midfielder but he has been frozen for reasons that the club is yet to disclose. Houssem Aouar has been made Arsenal’s first choice midfield target as per many reports from both England and France because he is a player that would be integral in the system that Arteta wants to use this season.

Arsenal’s problem in the pursuit of Houssem Aouar has been trying to reach an agreement with Lyon over the fee and their president Jean-Michel Aulas has now recently come out and confirmed that there is three major clubs that are interested in the 22 year old midfielder.

“Things haven’t really advanced. We know that three major clubs – two in the short term and one in the medium term are interested in Houssem. They are some of the biggest clubs. They have all been in the Champions’ League and have performed well. Talks are difficult.” said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas on the Houssem Aouar saga as per Get French Football News.

“The clubs are not able to provide us with financial commitments. Some, like I have said with Barcelona, are in great difficulty. That is the difficult. We are all working, night and day.”

While Houssem Aouar’s stats might not be good on the eye, he is however highly rated in France and it’s believed that he could an incredible hybrid of 8/10 as Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
