Arsenal has so far signed only two players in this summer transfer window and the fans are however not satisfied because they believe that their side needs to invest more since it finished last season in the 8th position on the Premier League table. Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar has given an update on their transfer plans and Mesut Ozil’s lack of minutes.
Arsenal have so far completed the signing of Willian on a free deal and Gabriel Magalhaes on a fee believed to be around €30million but they are however yet to address their midfield which was one of their main problems last season. Arsenal fans have got worried about the current lack of new signings because the transfer window will close in three weeks yet this was deemed as the window which Mikel Arteta would use to revamp his squad.
Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar who took charge just a few weeks back has revealed that the current transfer window is challenging but urges the supporters to remain calm as they have a plan that they will follow.
“The market right now is challenging,” said Edu. “What is important internally is that we have a clear plan on the players we want to keep, the players we want to loan and the players we want to sell. After that we have to be patient.” Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar told The Telegraph.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has not been playing for the gunners in the last few months after he was frozen from the squad after the league returned to finish the 2019/20 campaign and the German international did come out, and say that he believed that the reasons why he was not playing had nothing to do with football. Edu Gaspar has now been questioned about this and has said that Mikel Arteta is the one who gets to choose and that all players are chosen according to their performances.
“Players with performance in training, the games, they are going to have opportunities. I know how important and how big the player is when you mention Mesut but, in the end, we are talking about performance here.” said Edu Gaspar.
“If he is performing well and people are performing well, who is the best in training and in games, I am sure Mikel is going to select them.”
