JACK WILSHERE
Jack Wilshere spent a decade at Arsenal and he was a fan favourite at the club because he was so talented, and was always involved in the best goals of the North Londoners in the last decade as he was such pivotal member of Wenger’s great attacking teams from 2010 to 2018. The former Arsenal midfielder has revealed how Unai Emery was involved in his departure from the Emirates Stadium.
Jack Wilshere went into the final year of his deal at Arsenal at the start of the 2017/18 season and his contract negotiations stalled due to the abrupt departure of Arsene Wenger and he found himself in negotiations in the last months of his current contract at the Emirates Stadium in 2018. Wilshere has confirmed that he waited for the club to announce the new manager before he made the decision on whether to extend.
Wilshere says that the wait for Unai Emery to get announced took so long and says that he had a chat with the Spanish coach in which he confirmed that he wouldn’t be in the starting eleven hence him going to West Ham United who were at that time interested in him.
“It seemed like it went on for it forever and then as soon as Emery said to me, ‘Look, you’re not in my starting XI’, I was like, ‘Okay, right, I need to leave’. It was very difficult as I said, it felt like Arsenal was my family.” Wilshere said on an Arsenal Podcast.
“I was part of Arsenal, it’s a massive club and I was a big part of it, it was difficult. It was a sad time to leave and even now I look back and think, ‘Yeah, that was a tough time.”
Jack Wilshere has however struggled at West Ham United as he has only made 16 appearances for them but the Arsenal fans will however always love him since he was their boy as they saw him as a teen and watched him become a man.
