There has been many reports in Italy which claim that AC Milan is interested in Lucas Torreira because its current boss Giampaolo is a big fan of the Uruguayan international having coached him at Sampdoria before Arsenal signed him in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Lucas Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in last year’s summer and he quickly became a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium because of his performances in the first half of the 2018/19 campaign. Torreira is now getting linked with a move to AC Milan because of his connection to the former Sampdoria manager but a few reports recently claimed that he would stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Lucas Torreira hasn’t opened up on these transfer rumours but his agent Pablo Bentancur has finally commented on them saying that he doesn’t know anything about these reports linking his client to the Italian club.
“I know nothing of AC Milan’s interest. I only heard about it in the press. No one contacted me. Would Giampaolo’s [Milan’s manager] call be something special for Lucas? Yes, clearly.” Torreira’s agent told Calciomercato.com.
This would have put an end to the reports linking Lucas Torreira to AC Milan but the little wink at the end of the quote could be mean a lot of things but what’s clear is that Arsenal has no reason to sell the Uruguayan international who had a great first season in England. Lucas Torreira is currently with the Uruguayan national team in Brazil and they are participating in the 2019 Copa America.
Lucas Torreira’s agent has definitely given AC Milan some hope by claiming how his client would be happy to receive a call from their current manager.
