Aubameyang reveals the shirt he wanted before choosing the “14” shirt

Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal last year and he was given the no.14 shirt but he has however revealed that he had another one that he requested for before choosing this one.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now been at the Emirates Stadium for one year after joining the North London club in January, 2018. The Gabon international secured the Premier League golden boot last season and has proved that he’s worth the amount that the club paid for him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival at Arsenal came as a big surprise to the gooners because they finally got the Gabonese star after having been linked with him for years. Aubameyang is currently wearing the no.14 shirt  but he has however revealed how he wanted to get Mkhitaryan’s no.7 shirt  but he however arrived at the Emirates Stadium when the Armenian international has already taken it.

“To be honest, when I arrived I actually wanted No 7, but Micki had already taken it. So I thought, ‘Why not follow in the footsteps of a legend?’ I’m just really proud to wear.” Aubameyang told Arsenal.com.

The Arsenal fans are however happy that he then chose the no.14 shirt  because it’s iconic because of Thierry Henry and Aubameyang’s goal scoring stats show that he is the closest goalscorer to ‘Henry’ that they have had in the last decade.  There has been some rumours that Aubameyang could leave Arsenal this summer but the latest interviews that the player has been doing show how he isn’t thinking about leaving any time soon.
