Arsenal signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria in the summer and the Uruguayan international has been outstanding in the few months which he has spent at the North London club. The gunners made five signings in the summer but the Arsenal fans consider him as their best 2018 summer signing according to most polls.
Lucas Torreira has shown how the gunners have been missing a player of his calibre in their squad because analytically, he stabilizes the Arsenal midfield and can be useful in stopping most attacks by opponents as witnessed in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Lucas Torreira has been compared to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira because the former Sampdoria midfielder has shown qualities of becoming a world-class player in the future, Vieira was a very strong talented defensive midfielder in the past and was even in the Arsenal’s invincible squad that went the whole season unbeaten. Lucas Torreira says that he is happy that the Arsenal fans are comparing him to Vieira but promises to grow a bit so that he could as tall as the Arsenal legend.
“If the fans are comparing me and my game to Patrick Vieira, that’s amazing. It makes me very proud but I need to grow a bit before I can be as tall as him.” Lucas Torreira told Sky Sports.
Lucas Torreira is indeed a bit short but the player is very calm when with the ball but his height hasn’t affected his performance on the pitch despite the Premier League being a very competitive match.
