The UEFA Europa League is back and the gunners will today be facing Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates Stadium after getting a one nil win against the Portuguese side two weeks ago. Arsenal is expected to win this match since they were even able to defeat Sporting Lisbon at its home.
The Arsenal squad trained on Wednesday and it seems Unai Emery has called some youngsters to train with the first team because he wants to use them in their match against Sporting Lisbon, but he might however have them on the bench because they are many first team players that also need playing time. So let’s take a look at the expected Arsenal lineup to face Sporting Lisbon.
EXPECTED ARSENAL LINEUP TO FACE SPORTING LISBON
Cech, Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Guendouzi, Ramsey, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Welbeck, Aubameyang
Goalkeeping:
Petr Cech wasn’t selected in the starting eleven on Saturday when the gunners faced Liverpool so it will be pretty fair to give him a chance today.
Defence:
Lichtsteiner could today be in the right back positon and Kolasinac on the left, so this will probably see Carl Jenkinson start on the bench. Sokratis could make his return to the lineup today and be paired with Shkodran Mustafi.
Central Midfield:
Since Mohamed Elneny is injured, Aaron Ramsey might start in the central midfield position for the first time this season. So Arsenal’s central midfield will consist of Ramsey and Matteo Guendouzi.
Attacking Midfield:
I expect Arsenal’s attacking trio to have Iwobi, Mkhitaryan and Welbeck.
Striking:
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is always used as a solo striker in the UEFA Europa League, so I think Unai Emery will continue with this.
