Arsenal has in the last year seen a lot of changes because of Arsene Wenger's departure and it's seems like the transition at the club is continuing up-to this day. It's been confirmed today that Freddie Ljungberg has been named as an assistant first team coach. The Arsenal legend was the coach of the Arsenal Under-23 squad last season and he did a remarkable job as his young side finished second on the league table, and they would have won the U-23 league if Unai Emery did not take some of the highly rated youngsters when the gunners got an injury crisis. The season has ended and the club wants to form a good structure which will help in identifying young players that are ready for first team football. So Ljungberg joins Unai Emery's team and Steve Bould will now become the coach of the Under-23 squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. Freddie Ljungberg is delighted to have been given this opportunity and he says that he is looking forward to his new job. “I’m really excited by this opportunity to continue helping develop and work with some of the great young players we have coming through in the first-team environment and to work alongside Unai and his coaching team to help Arsenal win trophies.” Freddie told Arsenal's official website. “I’m looking forward to working in this new structure and to pass on my experience and knowledge about what is needed to succeed at this level.” Arsenal fans will be hoping that the appointment of Ljungberg will see the youngsters receive more chances since there has been worries that Unai Emery might not be great at developing young players yet it's one of the main things that the club is well-known for.
