Arsenal are preparing a surprise push to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer, with sources indicating that Leandro Trossard is increasingly likely to depart the club to make room for new arrivals. The Gunners are open to selling the Belgian international, and the funds raised could go directly toward financing a move for Eze — one of the most admired attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
Eze, 26, has long been on Arsenal’s radar due to his creativity, dribbling ability, and versatility across the attacking third. With the club seeking to add another dynamic presence to its frontline, the England international has emerged as a top target. Arsenal believe Eze’s skillset fits perfectly within Mikel Arteta’s fluid attacking system and view him as a player who could unlock tight games with his one-on-one brilliance and ability to play between the lines.
However, with Crystal Palace holding firm on his release clause — reportedly £60 million plus £8 million in achievable add-ons — Arsenal must first make space both financially and within the squad. That’s where Trossard’s potential departure comes into play.
Trossard, 29, arrived at Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for a fee of around £27 million. While the Belgian contributed important goals and assists during his time at the Emirates, he struggled for consistent minutes in the starting XI, often playing second fiddle to Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank.
Now, with several clubs showing interest — including Borussia Dortmund and at least two Premier League sides — Arsenal are open to a sale. The Gunners are hopeful of recouping a fee in the region of £30–35 million, which would represent solid business for a player entering his 30s with two years left on his deal.
Trossard’s departure would not only free up funds, but also open the door for a left-sided attacking reinforcement, with the club still keen on a specialist winger who can challenge Martinelli or rotate in different attacking setups. Eze, despite being a central playmaker by trade, has operated on the left frequently for Palace and would offer that flexibility.
Under Sporting Director Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s strategy this summer is focused on fine-tuning the squad, improving quality in depth, and building a group capable of winning major honours. Eze is seen as a luxury addition who could elevate Arsenal’s attacking threat, especially in games where creativity has been lacking.
Arteta values Eze’s flair and football intelligence, and there’s belief inside the club that a front line including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Martinelli, and Eze would give Arsenal one of the most unpredictable and potent attacks in Europe.
Talks are expected to intensify once Arsenal finalise other incoming and outgoing deals — but with Trossard’s exit growing more likely, a path is quickly opening for Eberechi Eze to make the move to north London.
