Bayern Munich have reportedly begun internal discussions over a potential move for Gabriel Martinelli, one of Arsenal’s most dynamic attacking talents, according to Sport BILD. The German giants are understood to be exploring the feasibility of signing the 23-year-old Brazilian winger as they look to reinforce their wide options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Martinelli, who has been a key part of Mikel Arteta’s project at Arsenal, is admired across Europe for his explosive pace, relentless work ethic, and eye for goal. Though no formal offer has yet been made, Bayern’s interest signals growing recognition of the forward’s quality — and could force Arsenal into a decisive stance this summer.
After a disappointing campaign in Europe, Bayern Munich are expected to revamp their squad, with the wing positions under particular focus. With Leroy Sané’s departure, the Bavarians are actively seeking reinforcements who can inject energy, creativity, and consistency into their frontline.
Martinelli fits that profile perfectly. Since joining Arsenal in 2019, the Brazilian has developed into one of the most feared wingers in the Premier League. Known for his direct running, relentless pressing, and goal contributions, Martinelli offers the kind of explosive output that Bayern could see as ideal for their high-tempo game.
Despite Bayern’s interest, Arsenal are highly unlikely to entertain a sale easily. Martinelli signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners in 2023, tying him to the club until 2027. He remains a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s tactical setup, often starting on the left wing and forming a deadly partnership with Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus in the final third.
Arteta has frequently praised Martinelli’s mentality, commitment, and development, and losing him would be seen as a major setback to Arsenal’s ambitions of challenging for major honours in England and Europe.
However, Bayern’s history of executing major transfers and the financial muscle they possess cannot be overlooked. If a formal offer were to arrive, particularly one that exceeds expectations, it could test Arsenal’s resolve — especially if the club needs to balance spending after major investments in players like Martin Zubimendi and Benjamin Šeško.
From the player’s side, there’s no clear indication that Martinelli is unsettled or looking for a move. The Brazilian has often spoken of his love for Arsenal and the Premier League, and he remains a fan favourite at the Emirates. However, the allure of playing for a club like Bayern Munich — with its history, titles, and Champions League pedigree — could be tempting for any top player.
While it’s still early in the transfer window, Bayern Munich’s interest in Gabriel Martinelli has added another layer of intrigue to Arsenal’s summer. As of now, the Gunners are expected to resist any approach — but in football, especially in a summer of big moves, nothing can ever be ruled out.
For Arsenal fans, all eyes will be on how seriously Bayern pursue their interest — and how firmly the club protects one of its most valuable assets.
