Arsenal’s Summer Masterplan: Positions That Will Get Signings Revealed

Arsenal are set for a busy summer transfer window, with reinforcements in the left-wing and striker positions now confirmed as top priorities, according to a report by Sky Sports. The Gunners are looking to build on their strong 2024/25 campaign and challenge for top honours next season, and the club’s recruitment team – led by new sporting director Andrea Berta – is already hard at work identifying the right players to elevate the squad.

Following the departures of Kieran Tierney and Jorginho, and with other fringe players expected to be sold, Arsenal are focused on targeting quality over quantity this summer. And the two roles at the top of the wishlist are clear: a prolific centre-forward to lead the line, and a left-winger to complement Bukayo Saka on the opposite flank.

According to Sky Sports, Andrea Berta is now gathering detailed scouting reports, data, and video analysis on several top targets in both positions. The aim is to present the most viable candidates to manager Mikel Arteta, who will then work with Berta to determine which signings best align with his tactical vision.

Striker Search Intensifies

At striker, Arsenal have been heavily linked with Benjamin Šeško of RB Leipzig and Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP. Šeško, just 21, is seen as a long-term investment with high upside, while Gyökeres offers immediate physical presence, finishing ability, and experience. Both players have been discussed internally, though the cost of each deal will play a significant role in the final decision.

Other names such as Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen have also surfaced in reports, though their price tags and competition from rival clubs may complicate any potential move. Arsenal are determined to find a striker who not only fits their system but also provides a genuine goal-scoring edge in big matches.

Left-Wing Options Explored

On the left flank, Nico Williams has emerged as a prominent target, although Athletic Bilbao’s efforts to renew his contract — including a proposal to increase his €58 million release clause — could prove a major hurdle. Arsenal value his pace, creativity, and ability to stretch defences, but are also monitoring alternatives in case a deal becomes unfeasible.

The Gunners are believed to want a left-winger who can both compete with and complement existing wide players like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, especially in a season where depth will be crucial across four competitions.

Berta’s First Big Test

For Andrea Berta, this will be his first major transfer window in charge since taking over from Edu Gaspar. Known for his data-driven and meticulous approach during his time at Atlético Madrid, Berta is expected to modernise Arsenal’s transfer strategy while still working closely with Arteta to ensure signings are tailored to the manager’s playing style.

As the summer window progresses, Arsenal fans can expect updates on both positions — with key decisions set to shape the club’s ambitions heading into the 2025/26 season.
