Arsenal have released their official starting lineup for today’s blockbuster Premier League encounter against Liverpool, as the Gunners look to bounce back from their Champions League exit and continue their title charge.
Mikel Arteta has opted for a bold and balanced XI, blending experience with youthful energy for the trip to Anfield. David Raya retains his place between the sticks, continuing as Arsenal’s number one in the league.
In defence, Ben White returns to right-back with William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior forming the centre-back partnership. With Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney both on the bench, Arteta has once again placed his trust in teenage sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back. The 17-year-old has impressed in recent appearances, and today marks one of the biggest tests of his young career.
The midfield trio sees Thomas Partey anchor the base, joined by Mikel Merino and captain Martin Ødegaard. Merino, who has grown into his role since arriving last summer, adds physicality and composure, while Ødegaard continues to be the creative heartbeat of the team.
In attack, Bukayo Saka returns to the right flank following his recent injury issues, while Gabriel Martinelli occupies the left wing. With Kai Havertz not in the squad and Gabriel Jesus still sidelined, Leandro Trossard is given the nod through the middle as a false nine. Trossard’s ability to drift wide, combine in tight spaces, and press high will be crucial against a high-intensity Liverpool side.
The Arsenal bench features a mixture of senior and youth options. Backup goalkeeper Neto is joined by defensive reinforcements in Kieran Tierney, Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Riccardo Calafiori. In midfield, young talents Amario Cozier-Duberry and Ethan Nwaneri are once again involved, highlighting Arteta’s growing trust in the next generation. Raheem Sterling, who is on loan from Chelsea, and forward George Butler-Oyedeji complete the substitutes.
This match carries massive significance in the Premier League title race. Arsenal trail leaders Manchester City by just a point and will be hoping to maintain pressure with a strong result away to one of the league’s toughest opponents. Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, have been resurgent this season, making this clash even more pivotal.
Arteta’s decision to stick with Lewis-Skelly and continue rotating in the forward line reflects both confidence and necessity. The absence of a natural striker in the starting XI underlines the importance of movement, cohesion, and midfield runners to unlock the Liverpool defence.
With only a handful of games left this season, every point is vital. Arsenal will need to show character, quality, and resilience to come away with a result from Anfield, and today’s lineup suggests Arteta is prepared to take risks in pursuit of Premier League glory.
