Arsenal Clear to Sign Joan Garcia After Stunning Barcelona Snub!

Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of highly-rated Spanish goalkeeper Joan García, with fresh reports suggesting the shot-stopper is not keen on a move to Barcelona. According to journalist Matteo Moretto, García prefers a move to the Premier League — news that will come as a welcome development for the Gunners as they look to reinforce their goalkeeping options this summer.

The 23-year-old Espanyol goalkeeper has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months, with the club monitoring his performances closely. Although David Raya has firmly established himself as the club’s No. 1 this season, there are plans to increase competition and depth in that position.

Barcelona were considered one of the frontrunners to land García, especially with their long-term need to succession-plan for Marc-André ter Stegen. However, Moretto’s latest update suggests that García is not interested in becoming a backup in La Liga and is far more attracted to the challenges and prestige of English football. His rejection of Barcelona’s advances has effectively opened the door for Arsenal to move quickly and secure his signature ahead of rival clubs.

This development also eases one of the key concerns Arsenal were facing — the risk of a bidding war with Barcelona or having to wait for García to make a choice between two European giants. With Barcelona now out of the race, Arsenal can focus on negotiating with Espanyol directly and structuring a deal that aligns with their summer transfer plans. The Spaniard’s contract reportedly contains a release clause, but Arsenal are expected to explore whether a slightly reduced fee can be agreed upon.

García has made a name for himself in La Liga and La Liga 2 with commanding performances, excellent distribution, and quick reflexes — attributes that align well with Mikel Arteta’s tactical demands. His age, potential, and preference for playing in the Premier League make him a compelling option as Arsenal continue to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

Internally, there is growing confidence that Arsenal can win the race for his signature, particularly now that one of the major competitors has been eliminated. García’s ambition to test himself in England and his belief that he can compete at the highest level make this a match with real potential.

As things stand, nothing is signed, and Arsenal will still need to finalise terms with both the player and Espanyol. But with the summer window approaching and positive signals coming from the García camp, this could be one of the first major pieces of business Arsenal get done in what promises to be a busy off-season at the Emirates.
