Arsenal’s Injury Woes: Key Players Ruled Out for Chelsea Clash

As Arsenal prepare to face Chelsea this weekend, Mikel Arteta’s squad is still dealing with several long-term injury concerns. The Standard Sport has confirmed that Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined, meaning the Gunners will once again have to navigate a big fixture without key players.

Saka Still Sidelined

Bukayo Saka remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. The winger has already missed several games, and while his return is expected soon, the Chelsea fixture comes too early for him. His absence is a significant blow, given how important he has been to Arsenal’s attacking play this season. In his place, Mikel Arteta has had to adjust his attacking setup, with Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson, and Gabriel Martinelli sharing the wide roles.

Gabriel Jesus Yet to Return

Gabriel Jesus is also still out with a knee problem that has kept him on the sidelines for an extended period. The Brazilian striker has struggled with injuries throughout the season, preventing him from getting a consistent run of games. With Jesus still unavailable, Arteta will likely continue relying on Eddie Nketiah or Trossard as alternatives in the No. 9 role.

Havertz and Tomiyasu Also Missing

Kai Havertz remains out with a hamstring injury, having been unavailable for several recent games. The German midfielder has been an important part of Arteta’s system this season, but his continued absence means the Gunners will have to make do without his physical presence and creativity in midfield.

Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is still recovering from a knee injury, limiting Arsenal’s defensive options. The versatile defender has missed several matches, and his absence continues to be felt, especially when Arteta needs rotation at full-back. With Tomiyasu still sidelined, Ben White will likely continue at right-back, while Jakub Kiwior remains an option for added depth.

How Arsenal Will Approach the Chelsea Game

Despite these continued injury concerns, Arsenal have shown they can adapt. They have been in strong form in recent weeks, with players stepping up to cover for missing teammates. Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard will be crucial in midfield, while the defense, led by William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, will need to be at its best to keep Chelsea’s attack quiet.

In attack, Arteta still has enough firepower with Martinelli, Trossard, and Nwaneri available. The manager will be hoping that the team’s recent strong performances can continue, even with key players still unavailable.

Final Thoughts

Arsenal would have preferred to have a full squad for this crucial London derby, but injuries remain a challenge. While fans will be hoping for updates on the likes of Saka and Jesus in the coming weeks, the Gunners must once again find a way to get the job done without them.
