Arsenal Handed Major Title Race Boost After Big Liverpool Slip Up

Arsenal have received a major boost in the Premier League title race after Liverpool dropped points in their game in hand, drawing 2-2 against Everton in the Merseyside derby. The result means that Arne Slott’s side failed to extend their lead at the top, keeping Arsenal within striking distance as the title race intensifies.

Liverpool entered the derby knowing that a win would have put them in a commanding position, but Everton’s resilience denied them the chance to pull further ahead. Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister were on the scoresheet for the Reds, but Everton fought back, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and a dramatic last-minute equalizer from James Tarkowski ensuring that the spoils were shared at Goodison Park.

This result leaves Liverpool on 57 points after 24 games, while Arsenal, who have played the same number of matches, sit seven points behind on 50. Had Liverpool won, they would have stretched their advantage to nine points, making Arsenal’s pursuit of the title significantly more difficult. Instead, Mikel Arteta’s men now have a glimmer of hope as they aim to close the gap in the coming weeks.

For Arsenal, this latest development could be a psychological lift ahead of their next fixture. With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz currently sidelined due to injuries, the Gunners have faced some setbacks, but the title race is still alive. Liverpool, on the other hand, will be frustrated at their failure to capitalize on their extra fixture, knowing that every dropped point could prove costly in the final stretch of the season.

The draw also means that Manchester City remain in the hunt, sitting on 41 points with a game in hand. Although Pep Guardiola’s side has work to do to catch up, Arsenal’s main focus will be on Liverpool’s results, as any further slip-ups from the Reds could open the door for Arteta’s men to make a late push for the title.

While Liverpool remain in control of their own fate, Arsenal must now seize this opportunity and keep up the pressure. The Gunners still have tough fixtures ahead, but this result serves as a reminder that no lead is safe in the Premier League. If Arsenal can build momentum and go on a strong run of form, they could yet turn the title race into a thrilling contest in the final months of the season.
