REVEALED: Whether Arsenal will sell both Kieran Tierney and Zinchenko this month

Arsenal could be set for a significant reshuffle at left-back before the January transfer window closes. According to renowned journalist David Ornstein, the club is open to allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to leave this month, a decision that could also see Kieran Tierney remain at the Emirates until the summer.

Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, has been a key figure under Mikel Arteta, offering technical quality and tactical flexibility. However, his role as an inverted left-back has come under scrutiny recently, particularly in games where defensive solidity has been a priority. Arsenal’s willingness to entertain offers for the Ukrainian international could be linked to ongoing interest from European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, both of whom are reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

The departure of Zinchenko would represent a notable shift in Arsenal’s defensive dynamics, but it could open the door for Kieran Tierney to reclaim his position in the starting XI. Tierney, who has struggled for regular game time under Arteta due to the Spaniard’s tactical preferences, has been linked with a move away from North London for months. However, Ornstein’s report suggests that the Scotsman will now stay at Arsenal at least until the summer, providing much-needed depth and competition at left-back.

This potential shake-up could also reflect Arsenal’s broader transfer strategy. Arteta is keen to streamline the squad while ensuring balance and versatility. Zinchenko’s departure would likely prompt Arsenal to explore alternative options in the transfer market or promote from within, with Riccardo Calafiori and other young talents waiting in the wings.

For Zinchenko, a move away could offer the chance to revive his career at a club that aligns better with his skillset. The 28-year-old remains a highly regarded player across Europe, known for his technical ability, leadership qualities, and versatility to operate in midfield.

Meanwhile, Tierney’s extended stay could prove advantageous for Arsenal. The Scottish international offers a more traditional defensive style and is highly effective in one-on-one situations. His return to regular action could provide Arsenal with the defensive stability they’ve occasionally lacked this season, especially in high-stakes matches.

As the January transfer window enters its final days, Arsenal’s decision to potentially part ways with Zinchenko will be closely watched. While it signals Arteta’s confidence in the current squad depth, it also highlights the club’s willingness to make bold moves in pursuit of long-term success.

If Zinchenko departs, Arsenal fans will be eager to see how the team adapts without one of their key players. However, with Tierney set to stay and contribute, the Gunners may view this as a step forward in fine-tuning their squad for the challenges ahead.
