RB Leipzig’s highly-rated striker Benjamin Šeško has reportedly expressed his preference for a move to Arsenal over Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United. According to talkSPORT, the 21-year-old Slovenian international has signaled his desire to join Mikel Arteta’s side, giving the Gunners a potential advantage in the race for his signature.
Arsenal’s Interest in Šeško
Arsenal have been linked with Šeško as they look to bolster their attacking options for the future. The young forward, who joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023, has impressed with his physicality, technical ability, and knack for scoring crucial goals. Standing at 6’4” with an imposing presence, Šeško has drawn comparisons to some of Europe’s elite strikers, and his potential is seen as immense.
While Leipzig have been reluctant to entertain offers for their prized asset, Arsenal’s continued interest, coupled with the player’s preference, could prove pivotal in any future negotiations. Although a January move appears unlikely due to Leipzig’s firm stance, Šeško’s desire to join the north London club provides optimism for a potential summer transfer.
Šeško’s Preference for Arsenal
Amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, Šeško’s inclination toward Arsenal stems from several factors. The Gunners’ resurgence under Arteta has made them one of Europe’s most attractive clubs for young talent. Their dynamic style of play, emphasis on youth development, and ambition to compete for major honors have caught Šeško’s attention.
For a player like Šeško, Arsenal’s project offers an ideal platform to grow and thrive. The prospect of linking up with creative players like Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli could further unlock his potential, while Arteta’s managerial philosophy ensures that young players are given the opportunities they need to flourish.
A Difficult Deal to Complete in January
Despite Šeško’s interest in a move to Arsenal, a deal in the current transfer window remains complicated. Leipzig are adamant that the striker is not for sale this month, especially given his importance to their squad and the difficulty of finding a suitable replacement on short notice.
However, Arsenal’s long-term planning and patience could pay dividends. With Šeško’s willingness to join the club already established, the Gunners may choose to revisit the situation in the summer, when negotiations could become more favorable.
Arsenal’s Need for a Striker
Arsenal’s pursuit of Šeško aligns with their need to strengthen their frontline. While Gabriel Jesus provides solid options, adding a young, versatile striker like Šeško would provide depth and a different dimension to Arsenal’s attack. His aerial ability, pace, and technical skill make him a perfect fit for Arteta’s system.
Benjamin Šeško’s preference for Arsenal over Chelsea and Manchester United is a significant boost for the Gunners as they look to secure one of Europe’s brightest young talents. While a January transfer may not materialize, Arsenal’s confidence in landing the Slovenian forward will only grow as they plan for the summer. For now, Šeško’s interest underscores Arsenal’s growing reputation as a destination for top-tier talent under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.
