Declan Rice makes statement after getting red card in Arsenal draw with Brighton

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has taken full responsibility for his first career red card, which came in the Gunners’ frustrating 1-1 draw against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. The incident, which saw Rice receive a second yellow card for impeding a quickly-taken free-kick, proved to be a turning point in the game, as Brighton capitalized on their numerical advantage to equalize.

Speaking after the match, Rice expressed his regret for the red card and apologized to his teammates and the Arsenal fans.

“I think from my behalf, that’s my first sending off in my career, so I just wanted to apologize obviously to my teammates, which I’ve done, and to the fans,” Rice said.

“When you get sent off, it’s never nice, you get a sense of guilt over you, and I was lucky today that my teammates really helped me out and we didn’t lose the game. I’ll learn from it.”

Rice’s apology demonstrates his maturity and commitment to the team. Despite the frustration surrounding the red card and the subsequent draw, Rice acknowledged the importance of supporting his teammates and staying positive.

The incident serves as a learning experience for the young midfielder, who will undoubtedly strive to avoid similar situations in the future. With the international break approaching, Rice will have time to reflect on his performance and return to the pitch with a renewed focus and determination.
