Arsenal have completed their third signing of the summer transfer window, bringing in experienced goalkeeper Neto on a season-long loan from Bournemouth. The move was confirmed via a statement on the club’s official website, with the 35-year-old Brazilian international expressing his delight at joining the Gunners.
“I’m realising a dream in my life, a dream come true, and I’m really, really happy,” Neto said after signing. “I had two dreams as a kid to play for a football team. It was my team in Brazil, where I grew up and became a professional footballer, and also Arsenal. And now I’m realising it! I’m a really lucky person.”
Neto brings a wealth of experience to the Emirates Stadium, having enjoyed successful spells with clubs such as Fiorentina, Juventus, Valencia, Barcelona, and Bournemouth. He has won numerous trophies, including the Copa del Rey with Barcelona and the Italian Serie A and Coppa Italia with Juventus.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is not eligible for Saturday’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion but will join up with the squad at the Sobha Realty Training Centrenext week. He will wear the number 32 shirt.
Neto’s arrival adds further depth to Arsenal’s goalkeeping department, providing competition and cover for first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners have also secured the services of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for a reported €45 million earlier in the window, bolstering their defensive options.
With the transfer window now closed, Arsenal are set to embark on their Premier League campaign with a strengthened squad, aiming to challenge for top honors.
