Arteta speaks out on an Arsenal star that is injured ahead of the new season

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the United States due to a knee injury sustained in training this week. The Japanese international, known for his tireless work ethic, was not included in the squad that departed for the US on Sunday.

“It is unbelievable, because the kid works so hard,” Arteta said via club media, expressing disappointment over the injury. “He had an incident in training this week & we don’t know the extent of that [knee] injury yet, but as a precaution, we kept him [in London]. We’ll see what happens.”

The injury comes as a setback for Tomiyasu, who has established himself as a key player for Arsenal. The 25-year-old defender is renowned for his defensive solidity and versatility, making him a valuable asset across the backline.

Arteta’s cautious approach indicates the severity of the injury, with the manager emphasizing the need for a careful assessment before determining the extent of Tomiyasu’s absence. While the club remains hopeful for a swift recovery, the news of the injury will undoubtedly be a concern for Arsenal fans as they prepare for the new season.

The Gunners will be hoping to build momentum during their US tour, but the lack of Tomiyasu’s presence will undoubtedly impact their defensive options. The club will be monitoring the situation closely and providing updates on Tomiyasu’s progress in the coming weeks.
