Arsenal set to complete summer signing after deal agreed for Tommy Setford

Arsenal are on the verge of securing the services of highly-rated 18-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax, with the deal reportedly in the final stages. The move, worth around €1 million, will see the young Dutch shot-stopper join the Gunners’ ranks in this summer transfer window.

Setford, who is considered one of the brightest prospects in Ajax’s academy, has impressed with his performances for the Dutch giants’ youth teams. He is expected to be included in Arsenal’s squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of the USA, providing valuable experience and competition within the goalkeeping department.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks following the departure of Matt Turner to Nottingham Forest. While Aaron Ramsdale remains the undisputed first-choice, the addition of Setford provides valuable depth and a promising prospect for the future.

With the transfer nearing completion, Setford’s move to the Emirates Stadium represents an exciting opportunity for the young goalkeeper. He will be hoping to impress the Arsenal coaching staff during the pre-season tour and stake his claim for a place in the first-team squad.

This strategic signing showcases Arsenal’s commitment to developing young talent and building a sustainable future for the club. The arrival of Setford could prove to be a shrewd move for the Gunners, potentially providing long-term benefits both on and off the pitch.
