Arsenal reportedly identify Ramsdale’s replacement to be signed this summer

As Aaron Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal hangs in the balance following the arrival of David Raya, the Gunners have reportedly identified a potential replacement in the form of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old Spaniard is high on Arsenal’s contingency plan should Ramsdale depart the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Garcia, who has a reported release clause of €25m, has impressed in La Liga, showcasing his talent and potential. He is known for his athleticism, shot-stopping ability, and composure under pressure, qualities that have caught the eye of Arsenal scouts.

The Gunners are understood to be monitoring Garcia’s situation closely, and the potential move could be accelerated if Ramsdale, who lost his starting spot to Raya last season, decides to pursue a move away from North London.

The arrival of Raya has undoubtedly created a competitive battle for the starting goalkeeper role at Arsenal, and it remains to be seen how Ramsdale will react to the situation. However, with Garcia emerging as a potential replacement, the Gunners are clearly preparing for all eventualities and ensuring they have a strong back-up option in place if Ramsdale does choose to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

The possibility of bringing Garcia to the Emirates Stadium is an exciting prospect, as he has the potential to become a valuable asset for the Gunners and potentially a long-term successor to Ramsdale if the latter does depart.
