Havertz finally reveals the reason and inspiration for his current celebration

Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz has in the past season surprised fans with a unique celebration and he has now revealed the reason and inspiration for it.

Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz has opened up about the inspiration behind his now-iconic goal celebration, which has quickly become a fan favorite. The playful gesture, which involves raising his hands to the sides of his head with fingers spread out and sticking his tongue out, has added a touch of joy and personality to his goal-scoring moments.

Havertz revealed the origins of the celebration in a recent interview, crediting two key influences for its inception. “Neymar used to do it,” Havertz began, pointing to the Brazilian superstar’s playful on-field antics. However, it was a more recent encounter that cemented the celebration in Havertz’s repertoire. “Recently, I was in the national team and one of the guys, Marvin Ducksch, who plays for Werder Bremen, was sitting next to me on the coach. Before the game, he said to me, ‘If you score today, do my celebration.’ I said, ‘OK,’ I scored, and then I did the celebration and then it just carried on.”

This spontaneous promise has turned into a signature move for Havertz, endearing him further to Arsenal supporters. His celebration has become a symbol of the camaraderie and fun within the squad, as well as a personal trademark that fans eagerly anticipate.

The 2023/24 season was a standout for Havertz, who scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists, contributing significantly to Arsenal’s impressive campaign. The team finished second in the Premier League with 89 points, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City, who won with 91 points.

Havertz’s celebration has not only brought smiles to the faces of Arsenal fans but also highlighted the positive atmosphere within the team. As the Gunners aim for even greater success next season, Havertz’s joyful antics on the field serve as a reminder of the importance of fun and unity in football.

With his playful celebrations and key contributions on the pitch, Kai Havertz continues to be a crucial and beloved figure at Arsenal. Fans will be looking forward to more of his goals and the infectious celebrations that follow, as the team strives for Premier League glory.
