Arsenal make new progress in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen

Arsenal have made initial contact with the entourage of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to French outlet GIFN. The Gunners are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing the Nigerian forward, who enjoyed a breakout season with the Serie A champions.

Osimhen’s performances in the 2023/24 campaign have attracted attention from several top clubs across Europe, and Arsenal are keen to add a prolific goal scorer to their ranks as they look to close the gap on Manchester City and mount a serious title challenge next season. The 25-year-old scored 15 goals and provided 4 assists for Napoli, showcasing his clinical finishing and impressive athleticism.

However, Arsenal will face stiff competition for Osimhen’s signature. The striker is in high demand, and his club are likely to demand a significant fee for his services. Napoli are reportedly looking for a fee in excess of €100 million, making him one of the most expensive players available in the transfer market.

The Gunners are prepared to invest in their squad this summer, but they will need to carefully consider the financial implications of a move for Osimhen. While the Nigerian forward would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to their attack, his high price tag and the competition from other top clubs make a deal challenging to achieve.

If successful, a move for Osimhen would be a significant statement of intent from Arsenal. The forward’s goalscoring ability and potential could help the Gunners reach new heights next season, but securing his signature will be a major test for their transfer strategy.
