Odegaard makes a controversial statement on Arsenal’s defeat against Aston Villa

Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard captained the gunners side in their game against Aston Villa and he has made a statement that some might call controversial.

Arsenal midfielder and captain Martin Odegaard has made a controversial statement following their recent loss against Aston Villa, claiming that his team was the better side despite the 1-0 defeat.

Odegaard told Arsenal Media, “It was maybe not our best game, but we were still the better team. I don’t think they created too much apart from the goal they scored, and as I said we had a few big ones that we missed, me included, and that’s annoying.”

The Norwegian international also acknowledged Aston Villa’s strength at home, saying, “They’re a great team, especially here at home. The record they have here speaks for itself. I thought we did enough to get a result, but today wasn’t the day.”

Arsenal are currently in 2nd position on the Premier League table with 36 points after 16 league games in the 2023/24 campaign. Their next game will be against PSV in the UEFA Champions League at Philips Stadion on 12th December, 2023.

Despite Odegaard’s belief that Arsenal were the better team in their recent loss, he also emphasized the need for his team to learn from their mistakes and improve. “We have to move on, we have to learn from it and improve,” he said.

It remains to be seen how Arsenal will respond to this setback as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
