David Raya reveals how match officials made Arsenal lose to Newcastle United

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has expressed his frustration over Arsenal’s recent defeat against Newcastle United, highlighting the decisions made by the match officials as a key factor in costing them valuable points. Raya believes that a crucial foul on teammate Gabriel Martinelli was missed, and that the goal should have been disallowed due to the ball going out of play.

Speaking to Arsenal Media, Raya stated, “What I could see was the ball went out of play, and then after going to the dressing room, looking back at the goal, it’s a big foul on Gabi. He’s pushing him with two hands on his back when he’s about to clear the ball.” He added, “On the other hand, it could have been an offside position, that’s harder to see. But the ball out of play and the foul is a massive decision that’s just going to cost us some points.”

Despite their disappointment with the result, Raya praised Arsenal’s performance in the game. He highlighted their strong defensive display and their ability to limit Newcastle’s chances on target. Raya also commended his teammates for following their manager’s instructions and competing well against a tough opponent away from home.

The defeat against Newcastle means that Arsenal missed an opportunity to close the gap on the top two teams in the Premier League. Currently sitting in third place with 24 points this season, Arsenal had a chance to potentially go top of the table but were unable to capitalize on it.

Looking ahead, Arsenal will now shift their focus to their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. The Gunners will be aiming to bounce back from their recent league defeat and secure a positive result in Europe.

Overall, despite their disappointment over the loss against Newcastle United, David Raya remains optimistic about Arsenal’s performance and believes they have what it takes to bounce back strongly in future matches.
