Arsenal centre back Jakub Kiwior has recently shed light on an intriguing aspect of Mikel Arteta’s team talks that many people may not be aware of. In an interview with Sky Sports, Kiwior expressed his surprise and admiration for the unique approach taken by Arteta in preparing the team before matches.
Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Italian side Spezia for a hefty fee of £21m during the January transfer window last season, has already made 10 appearances for the Gunners, including two this season. Despite his relatively short time at the club, he has already noticed a distinct difference in Arteta’s team talks compared to what he was accustomed to.
Describing his experience with Arteta’s pre-match meetings, Kiwior said, “It’s very different to what I was used to… Coming here, it’s the first time I’ve seen this final meeting before going out on the pitch look like it does here. It’s certainly something new.”
The young centre back went on to express his surprise at Arteta’s ability to come up with innovative concepts that shape the players’ attitude towards the game. He stated, “I was quite surprised that something like this was even possible, that a coach could come up with these concepts to shape our attitude to the game through all sorts of competitions and challenges to focus our minds.”
