Arsenal begin talks to sign Manchester City star in last few days of transfer window

Arsenal have already completed the signing of four players in this summer transfer window and there is now reports that they have started talks to sign a Manchester City star.

Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo, as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season. According to a report by 90min, the Gunners have already opened negotiations with Cancelo’s representatives.

Cancelo, who is 29 years old, spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich from Manchester City. During his time in the Bundesliga, he managed to score one goal and provide four assists, showcasing his attacking prowess from the fullback position.

The potential move for Cancelo comes amidst uncertainty surrounding Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney’s future. There have been rumors suggesting that Tierney might leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window, which has prompted Arsenal to explore alternatives.

In addition to their pursuit of Cancelo, Arsenal have been active in the transfer market this summer. They have already completed several signings, including 24-year-old Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a fee of £65 million. The Gunners also secured the services of 22-year-old defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

Furthermore, Arsenal made a significant acquisition by signing 24-year-old Declan Rice from West Ham for a whopping £105 million. The club has also strengthened their goalkeeping department by bringing in 27-year-old David Raya from Brentford on a loan deal with an option to buy.

With these four signings already secured, Arsenal seems determined to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming season. The potential addition of Joao Cancelo would provide them with further depth and quality in defense.

While Barcelona remains in talks with Manchester City over a potential loan deal for Cancelo, Arsenal’s interest indicates that they are serious about acquiring his services. It remains to be seen how negotiations will progress and whether Arsenal can secure the fullback’s signature.

As the summer transfer window draws closer to its conclusion, Arsenal fans will be eagerly awaiting further developments regarding their club’s transfer activity. The potential arrival of Joao Cancelo would undoubtedly add excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season.
