Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson is facing an uncertain future as negotiations over a new contract continue to stall. The 23-year-old winger has been offered an increase on his current deal, which is believed to be worth around £35k-per-week, but an agreement has yet to be reached as per a report by Daily Mail.
Despite his bit-part role under manager Mikel Arteta, Nelson’s preference is to stay at Arsenal. However, with the lines of communication remaining open between the club and player, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be found.
In the meantime, several Premier League clubs are said to be interested in taking Nelson on a free transfer ahead of next season. Aston Villa, Fulham, West Ham and Brighton are among the teams reportedly monitoring his situation.
Nelson joined Arsenal’s academy at a young age and made his first-team debut in 2017. He has since made many appearances for the Gunners.
However, he has struggled for regular game time this season and has mostly been used as a substitute in the Premier League games. Despite this lack of opportunities, Nelson remains highly regarded by many within the game.
Whether that future lies at Arsenal or elsewhere remains to be seen. With negotiations ongoing and interest from other clubs growing, it could be a pivotal summer for Reiss Nelson as he looks to secure his long-term future in football.
