Arsenal announce major pre-season match that will excite fans

This 2022/23 season will soon come to an end in a one month's time and Arsenal have announced a major pre-season match that will excite fans.

Arsenal have announced that they will face Premier League rivals Manchester United in a pre-season friendly at the MetLife Stadium in New York on Saturday, July 22. The match is part of Arsenal’s preparations for the 2023/24 season and will provide a strong test for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners are currently in a title race as they sit at the top of the Premier League table with 75 points after 33 games. However, they are closely followed by second-placed Manchester City, who have 73 points and two games in hand. With just five games left to play, Arsenal will be hoping to hold on to their lead and win their first league title since 2004.

Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar expressed his excitement about the upcoming pre-season match against Manchester United. He said as per Arsenal’s official website, “Playing against strong opposition in a great stadium in front of so many of our supporters in New York will provide Mikel & the squad with a strong test & great experience ahead of the new season.”

This is not the first time that Arsenal have played pre-season matches in the United States. In fact, they have a history of playing friendly matches across North America. In recent years, they have played matches in Los Angeles, San Jose, and Charlotte.

The MetLife Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in North America with a capacity of over 82,000 spectators. It is home to both the New York Giants and New York Jets NFL teams and has hosted numerous high-profile events including Super Bowl XLVIII.

Arsenal fans based in North America will be thrilled to see their team play live once again after more than a year without any matches due to COVID-19 restrictions. The club has already announced another pre-season match against Inter Milan on Sunday, July 25 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

With Arsenal still fighting for the Premier League title this season, the pre-season matches against Manchester United and Inter Milan will provide a great opportunity for Arteta to test his squad against top-class opposition ahead of the new season. Fans will be eagerly awaiting further details of Arsenal’s pre-season plans.
