Granit Xhaka was left frustrated after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The Gunners had taken the lead through Leandro Trossard’s first goal for the club, but Ivan Toney equalised for the visitors shortly afterwards.
Xhaka took to Instagram after the game to deliver a message of support to Arsenal fans, saying: “Frustrating afternoon. We’ll analyse it, learn from it and move on. Stick with us – you’re all such a vital part of this team”.
The draw means that Arsenal have now gone two games without a win and this isn’t acceptable since they are in a title race against Manchester City which is a side that is usually good at taking up the opportunity in critical times of title races.
The Swiss international has been an ever-present figure in Mikel Arteta’s midfield since the Spaniard got appointed, and his leadership qualities have been invaluable during this difficult period for the club. His message of resilience and determination will no doubt be welcomed by Arsenal supporters who are desperate to see their team back on track.
Saturday’s draw with Brentford was a hard-fought affair, with Bukayo Saka providing the assist for Trossard’s opener before Toney levelled things up shortly afterwards.
Xhaka’s rallying cry will no doubt be echoed by many Gunners fans as they look ahead to what promises to be an exciting end to the campaign. With his leadership and determination driving them forward, there is no doubt that Arsenal can still achieve great things this season if they stick together as one unit and continue to fight for each other until the very end.
