Mikel Arteta provides injury updates ahead of Southampton game

Arteta delivered a worrying update regarding Partey's chances of playing again this season.

Arsenal could be without Thomas Partey until next season. Partey injured his thigh during a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

“Yes, the news that we got after a lot of assessments is not great. It’s not looking very positive for his availability this season, but we’ll have to wait and see because he’s trying to get back as quickly as possible, but at the moment we are not very optimistic about it.” Arteta said during the pre-match press conference.

Partey joins Tierney who picked up a knee injury during the international break, the duo are unlikely to feature again this season.

Good news is Takehiro Tomiyasu could be back in full training after tomorrow’s game. Tomiyasu has missed most of Arsenal’s games this year and his return would be a huge boost for the team.

When asked about Lacazette missing from training, Arteta had this to say: “Obviously there are private reasons that I cannot comment on, but I have no other team news to give other than the guys we have discussed.”

The injuries at this point are a huge blow to Arsenal’s top-four quest. The Gunners will be looking to bounce back against Southampton tomorrow.
