Arsenal secured an important three points after beating Wolves 1-0 and registering their first win of the year.
The Gunners took the lead in the first half in a scrappy fashion as Gabriel Magalhaes managed to nudge it over Jose Sa.
After Gabriel Martinelli was sent off in the 69th minute, Arsenal had to defend for their lives until the final whistle.
A few minutes after Martinelli received his marching orders, Alexandre Lacazette was presented with a good opportunity to put the game to bed.
The 30-year-old forward had a 1v1 opportunity that he should have tucked away to make it 2-0. A two-goal lead would have put Arsenal in a comfortable position.
It could have gone wrong for Arsenal under pressure in the closing stages and down to 10-men, had it not been for Ramsdale’s brilliant saves and resolute defending, two or even all three points could have been dropped.
Lacazette was the culprit during Arsenal’s goalless draw with Burnley. He had at least two good chances to give Arsenal the lead and turn two points dropped into three points won.
It is safe to say that Arsenal would have been comfortably in the top-four had there been a lethal striker within the ranks.
Despite loaning out Folarin Balogun and selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the club opted not to bring a striker in January.
