Arsenal could snap up bargain transfer deal to bolster their midfield

Arsenal are in the market for a central midfielder and could look at Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that the club are short on central midfield options and are looking at strengthening that position.

Arsenal have been linked with quite a number of central midfielders, Lille’s Renato Sanches and Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes are the names that have stood out.

However, the Gunners could look at Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria. Zakaria is out of contract with Gladbach at the end of the season.

Zakaria has shown no intentions of staying at Gladbach and some reports have claimed the German outfit could sell the Switzerland international for €7m in January or otherwise he could see out his contract before leaving as a free agent.

The 25-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder and ranked among the best central midfielders in the Bundesliga.

Signing Zakaria would strengthen Arsenal’s midfield and would save Arsenal from forking out at least £35m on a new midfielder.
