AS Roma have been interested in signing Granit Xhaka in this summer transfer window and its now reported that the future of the Swiss international has taken a big U-turn.

Granit Xhaka has in this summer transfer window been heavily linked with a move to AS Roma as he even openly commented about this in an interview saying that he wouldn’t be opposed to joining Jose Mourinho’s team. Arsenal has been in talks with AS Roma for weeks now and everyone was waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement but it however looks like Granit Xhaka’s future has taken a massive U-turn.
Jose Mourinho is a very big fan of Granit Xhaka and its reported that the Portuguese manager is committed to bringing the Swiss international to the Italian Serie A this summer but AS Roma and Arsenal have failed to reach an agreement as the North Londoners have been firm on their asking price of €20million.
The Arsenal fans have been ready to say goodbye to Granit Xhaka for a while now but it’s however been reported by The Athletic that the gunners have decided to offer the Swiss international a new contract after AS Roma have failed to pay the asking price of €20million. The report claims that even though Arsenal were indeed willing to sell Granit Xhaka in this summer, they were however not satisfied with the offers submitted to them and that after analysing the situation, the club then decided that it would be best to tie him to a new contract since it would take a lot of money to replace him.
It is however not confirmed whether Granit Xhaka will accept the new contract offer from Arsenal since he was determined to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer after having been at the club for five years.
