The Premier League returned for the 34th time this season as Newcastle United hosted Arsenal at the St James’ Park and the gunners walked away with all the three points thanks to a 2-0 win. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was of course happy to get the three points but he however revealed the bad news he had received.
Arsenal today used a very different squad from the one that lost to Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League semi finals a few days ago and among those that came into the team was David Luiz, a centre back that is hugely trusted by Mikel Arteta for his leadership skills and ball playing ability.
Arsenal centre back David Luiz was impressive in the time he was on the pitch today but he however got injured in the second half and Mikel Arteta has revealed the bad news that he has received about the injury of his Brazilian defender. Arteta says that Luiz has told them that he felt something in his hamstring which could mean that he will be out for weeks.
“He felt something in his hamstring which is not good. It’s a real shame.” said Arteta.
“Apart from David’s injury, that’s all we wanted. We wanted to keep the team fresh and with the right attitude to play this game. We dominated the game and got the three points.” Mikel Arteta told Football.London when asked about the game.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was clearly not happy that David Luiz got injured in this game as he later explained in his interview to the TV broadcasters that the Brazilian had worked so hard to be fit only to get injured in his first game back on the pitch.
